WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have arrested an 18-year-old man and two 14-year-old boys who allegedly broke into a home and stole guns, electronics and other property.

Officers responded at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday to a burglary in progress in the 5200 block of South Mount Carmel, near 47th and Meridian. Police spokesperson Charley Davidson said an 18-year-old resident had arrived home and heard people inside.

The resident exited his home and called 911. He then saw the three suspects flee from the rear of the home with property.

Officers arriving in the area located the suspects and took them into custody without incident. They recovered two handguns, electronics, clothing and alcohol.

Davidson said 18-year-old Alejandro Avalos was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for aggravated burglary and theft. The two 14-year-old boys were booked into juvenile detention on the same charges.

The resident knows at least one of the suspects, Davidson said. The investigation is ongoing.
