Missing 88-year-old Goddard man found safe in Oklahoma

An 88-year-old Goddard man who's been missing since early Thursday afternoon has been found safe. 

The Goddard Police Department said at around 10 a.m. Friday that the Oklahoma Highway Patrol located John Hughes and he is safe.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has issued a statewide Silver Alert an 88-year-old man who has been missing since early Thursday afternoon.

Goddard police say John Hughes left for a medical appointment in west Wichita at around 1 p.m. Thursday, but he never arrived. The KBI said in a news release that Hughes was last seen Friday morning at a convenience store in northwest Oklahoma and reported he was trying to get to Dodge City.

Authorities believe he is disoriented and suffers from memory loss and coronary heart disease.

Hughes stands 5-foot-7, weighs 140 pounds and has gray hair and blue eyes. He was driving a white 1999 Buick Century with a Kansas personalized license plate KSU5454.
