WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say over a two-hour period along a two-mile stretch of 21st Street in west Wichita, officers issued dozens of citations including 45 for speeding.

The department's traffic section monitored 21st Street from Ridge to Maize roads Thursday morning. Of the remaining citations, six were for no seat belt, two were for no proof of insurance and one driver didn't have their license with them.

Officer Charley Davidson said on the Wichita Police Department Facebook page that the traffic section's work is to reduce accidents.

"Slow down. Obey that speed limit," he said in a live video. "Make sure that you get to your destination safely."
