14-year-old Sedgwick student in custody for alleged school threat

SEDGWICK, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities have taken a 14-year-old student into custody for an alleged threat against Sedgwick schools in Harvey County.

The sheriff's office and Sedgwick Police Department investigated a threat of potential violence Monday evening. The sheriff's office said on Facebook that the teen suspect was identified and taken into custody on suspicion of criminal threat.

The Facebook post says it was an isolated incident and there is no active threat. 

"Please understand we take incidents like this extremely serious and will investigate to our fullest," the sheriff's office said. "We sincerely hope threats of potential violence are never made, but if you ever hear of a threat, please contact us immediately."
