1st and 10 Preview: Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Posted: Updated:

If you make it out to a Kapaun Mt. Carmel game this year, be sure to pick up a program.

The Crusaders experienced a massive exodus in the off season.

They return only 2 starters on offense and 4 on defense.

In Kapaun's 14 seasons under head coach Dan Adelhardt they've had at least 6 wins or more in 10 of them.

One of the biggest keys to their success has been a strong offense. They averaged 25 points a contest in 2018.

Kapaun returns senior back Hunter Shonka who is going to take an even bigger role in the offense this year.

The crusaders are trying to figure out where the other pieces to the puzzle are going to be.

"We have a lot of things still to sort out," Adelhardt told KAKE. "We want people to get out on the playing field and so our depth chart right now is still uncertain. Today is the first day of pads and full day of hitting. That determines a lot if you can line up correctly and you can get to the right spot but if you can't finish a play that determines a lot. The next several days and next week in practice and our jamboree is going to be big. You know 22 people that step on the field September 2nd and about 15 of them have never played football before but I like to tell people we are young and energetic."

Kapaun Mt. Carmel faces Southeast in their opener on September 6th.
