Over the years the team name has changed, countless players have come through the doors of the clubhouse, different managers have led the team, but one thing has stayed consistent.
He's been the voice of the New Orleans Triple-A baseball team for 18 years and that won't change. He too is making Wichita his home.
"I thought I was two or three years in New Orleans and I'll be off to the big leagues and be living in St. Louis or living somewhere else," said Grubbs. "But you know over time I've really enjoyed the culture and the food. "
The people of Wichita have already made a good impression by talking baseball, a language Grubbs is fluent in.
"Just going to dinner at different restaurants Downtown or Old Town and I'd have a Marlins shirt on or I'd have a New Orleans shirt on. Different waiters would ask questions and they were asking in-depth questions about our farm system. I had to answer a question about Sixto Sanchez in February because we had just acquired in a trade from the Phillies, and I still haven't him. It's August! I still don't know, I know about him but there's definitely an excitement."
