Vandals strike Delano business three times

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Hayes Company in Delano had windows vandalized in May, July, and August.

The latest incident happened on Friday around 11:30 p.m. on Douglas Street, east of the roundabout.

"The level of frustration is getting pretty high because we're spending time having to repair glass and the businesses are having to redo things that they just did," said Shawn Stroble, who works at the Hayes Company.

Surveillance cameras caught two people on skateboards committing the vandalism before leaving in a car.

Video shows a man etching on the window, while a woman takes photos or videos of the crime. He then picks up another rock and scratches another window.

"They affect a lot of people when they do stuff like that. For everybody else, they have a lot of work and cost and expense, so for them it's not fun at all and it's very disrespectful," said Chris Parisho, president of the Delano Neighborhood Association.

In May, vandals etched the word "Caser" at businesses in Delano and Park City. Stroble believes that same person came back in July to write "Caser" on a newly-replaced window.

This weekend's incident is not believed to be the same person. This incident caused further damage to the window that was vandalized in July, and another window.

"We're going to have to replace it again and it's probably over $5,000 worth of damage," said Stroble.

No arrests have been made in any of the cases but Wichita Police are investigating these incidents.
