A Nebraska teen can now see for herself that her late military dad still stands with her.

KETV reports Julia Yllescas, a high school senior, had her senior portraits taken on Saturday to honor her father, U.S. Army Capt. Robert Yllescas.

Capt. Yllescas died from injuries he sustained in 2008, weeks after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan.

Photographer Susanne Beckmann, of Snapshots by Suz, said she’s talked about doing the angel photos with Julia’s mother over the years. Her senior photos turned out to be perfect timing.

“Being a military wife myself, I knew it would be special to do something for her and her family,” Beckmann said.

Julia wore military dog tags and stood with a folded American flag in one photo. She was sitting in another photo. Beckmann was able to incorporate Capt. Yllescas in both.

Beckmann posted the photos on her Facebook page Sunday. They have been shared more than 25,000 times as of Tuesday morning.
