TOPEKA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Kansas Highway Patrol says one of its troopers saved an injured kitten in the northeast part of the state.

The patrol says the kitten was found Monday morning near Silver Lake and was taken to a veterinary clinic in Topeka for treatment. The animal did not have a tag.

"Move over firefighters, KHP can save kittens too! This morning, a Trooper out patrolling located an injured kitten," KHP Troop B said on Facebook. "The Trooper scooped him up and transported him to a local emergency animal hospital for care. Hopefully we will get some updates from the Vet soon!!"
