LARNED, Kan. (KAKE) -

A central Kansas sheriff is seeking the community's help in finding the owner of a puppy that was shot multiple times and later died.

Pawnee County Sheriff Scott King said the 4- to 5-month-old male put bull was found July 31 on O Road between 110th and 120th roads, which is less than a mile north of Larned. It had been shot eight times with a .22-caliber firearm and was later euthanized at a vet clinic.

The sheriff's office has posted photos of the dog, while it was still alive, on its Facebook page. Sheriff King said his office would like to talk to the owner to find out what happened and if the owner gave the dog to someone else.

Anyone with information can email Sheriff King at sheriff.king@pawneecountysheriff.org or contact the sheriff's office on Facebook
