Man found guilty in DUI crash that injured bicyclist near Derby

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A 35-year-old man has been convicted in a drunken driving crash that injured a bicyclist last year. 

The Sedgwick County DA's office says Larry Gaines on Thursday was found guilty of aggravated battery with bodily harm and DUI. It was his third DUI conviction. 

The crash happened at around 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, near 55th Street South and Rock Road. Authorities said Gaines was driving south on Rock Road and crashed his minivan into Carmela James' bicycle. 

James was critically injured.
