Local expert shares active shooter training tips

Posted: Updated:

In the wake of the horrible tragedies this weekend, we spoke with a local expert about what to do, if you find yourself in that type of situation.

He says it's no different than planning ahead for severe weather or a fire. The more prepared you are, the greater your chances of survival.

Tad Godsey of Wichita equips people for the moment an emergency breaks out. His major piece of advice: be aware of your surroundings.

He says you have to think on your feet, as clearly as possible amidst the chaos, and remember time is critical.

Gadsey says, "Run, hide, fight, have a plan in place, visualize scenarios ahead of time, be self aware and be aware of surroundings at all times. Not paranoid, just aware. I know where the exits are, I know where I parked."
