McConnell Airman killed in crash near El Dorado Lake

EL DORADO, Kan. (KAKE) -

Officials say a 28-year-old man stationed at McConnell Air Force Base was killed in a crash in Butler County on Sunday.

The crash happened at around 11 p.m. near El Dorado Lake. McConnell officials say Staff Sgt. Alex Lafortuneluna was pronounced dead when EMS arrived on scene. 

Lafortuneluna, of Antioch, Illinois, was assigned to the 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. 

The Butler County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash. 

Sgt. Lafortuneluna was the second McConnell Airman to die over the weekend. Airman 1st Class Chancelor Williams was killed in a shooting in east Wichita on Saturday.
