Man seriously hurt in northeast Wichita shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police are investigating after a man suffered serious injuries in a shooting late Tuesday night. 

Officers responded at around 11:20 p.m. to a shooting at 17th and Poplar. They located a 47-year-old man who had been shot one time. He was hospitalized for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

According to police spokesperson Charley Davidson, the victim told officers that he was walking when an unknown suspect fired multiple shots at him. 

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call WPD detectives at (316) 268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.
