Riverfront Legacy Master Plan leaders to host open house

Local groups working to develop areas east of the Arkansas River invite Wichita residents to an open house to learn more about the Riverfront Legacy Master Plan and to voice opinions about the project.

The open house will be held from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at the Wichita Boathouse at 515 S. Wichita.

Members from the local coalition funding the plan and the global design firm leading the planning process, Populous, will give a brief presentation, provide an overview of what to expect in the coming months, and answer questions.

Other leaders with the project including RCLCO Real Estate Advisors and Olin Design will be present at the event.

Residents are encouraged to give input about what they'd like to see as part of the developments.

If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can share your opinions on the project's website, and on Twitter and Facebook.

The project will cost roughly $700,000. It will be primarily privately funded, but Wichita City Council and Sedgwick County Commission each chipped in $100,000 toward the completion of the project.

The remaining $500,000 will be covered by groups including Greater Wichita Partnership, Downtown Wichita, the Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce, Visit Wichita and the Wichita Community Foundation.

The final plan is expected to be presented in 2020.
