KU to sell beer, wine at football games

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KAKE) -

Fans at KU football games will be able to buy beer and wine at Memorial Stadium.   The KU Athletic Department announced today that beer and wine sales will begin in August.  "Our research and that of others indicates that not only does alcohol availability promote attendance and improve the game day experience for fans, it has the potential to reduce alcohol-related incidents in and around the venue," said KU Athletic Director Jeff Long.

As part of the new program,  there will be a No re-entry, no pass policy at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.  Alcohol sales will be suspended at the end of the 3rd quarter.

KU will become the sixth Big 12 school to make beer and wine available for purchase.
