WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police are investigating the death of a 72-year-old woman in northeast Wichita.

Family identify her as Rita Golden of Wichita.

"This is sad 'cause she's the sweetest lady ever. She just knows everybody," said Veronica Wright, neighbor.

Officers responded at around 6:15 p.m. Monday to an unknown call for EMS at a home in the 2700 block of East 10th Street. Police say Golden's daughter called 911 after arriving at the home and finding her mother unresponsive.

On Monday night, police spokesperson Kevin Wheeler said officers were informed of a possible disturbance at the home and discovered the woman.

On Tuesday, police said they were not aware of any disturbance at the home.

EMS tried to revive the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was also a male acquaintance at the home, Officer Charley Davidson said. No additional details about the man have been released.

The investigation is ongoing and the circumstances of what occurred are currently unclear. No other information has been provided.
