Alex Delton impressing at TCU

For years Alex Delton was a quarterback at K-State but this off season he traded in one purple for a different shade when he decided to play his final year for TCU.

Delton, who started six games at quarterback for the Wildcats, has left the Little Apple but not the grasp of K-State football.

TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson is a Kansas native and played football at Kansas State for Bill Snyder.

Patterson desperately needed a quarterback this spring when Delton reached out to him and now he's one of six fighting for the starting job this fall.

"He decided to come on our place and to be honest with you he saved us because really with Shawn [Robinson]'s transfer, we didn't have any other quarterbacks," Patterson said. "Mike [Collins] was out for the spring. Justin [Rogers] was not 100% and you had a freshman coming in, so to have an older guy coming in like that really made a big difference in how our spring went down. You had a guy that came in, rolled his sleeves up, went through our off-season which is not easy, did a great job with that. He's woven himself into being one of the guys on our team. I think he's helped our team chemistry quite a bit. He's also been without anything more just a guy that's learned how to prepare for a Big 12 game."
