Crime Stoppers: Stolen truck crashes into, damages Wichita business

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A man in a stolen truck takes Kansas Highway Patrol troopers on a wild, high speed chase, and it's all caught on camera. Now, Crime Stoppers is hoping that someone will recognize the truck and call in a tip.

Surveillance video shows the stolen truck pulling a trailer speeding away from the  trooper when the driver hits a fence at a south Wichita business. Dick Guthridge owns that business.

"He went through two gates and then hit that cable and that was it," said Guthridge.

It happened in late June after Guthridge had closed up shop for the night. The crash forced the suspect to turn around leaving part of the stolen truck behind. The highway patrol called off the chase for safety reasons.

"I hope the person who did this is caught, so he is held accountable for something," said Guthridge.

The incident cost Guthridge nearly $5,000 in repairs.

"It affects all of our employees," he said. "It's going to come out of the profits to pay for it."

If you know anything about this crime, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
