SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

This year marks the 75th year for the Sedgwick County Fair. Wednesday night, it kicked off with a parade in Cheney.

Terry Kohler has lived in Cheney all his life. He's a long standing fan of the fair.

"We come out just about every year," says Kohler.

Every year, he and his wife set up on the sidewalk to watch the parade, where the River City Kids 4-H Club made their Main Street debut.

"We've never done a float before, so it's going to be fun to get on the float and wave at people," says a member of the club.

After the parade, comes the main event, when kids in 4-H will show their animals for prizes.

"Our kids were in 4-H and we kind of enjoy watching the animals and watching the kids show the animals. All the kids get nervous. The parents get nervous and have a good time," says Kohler.

The fair will last until Saturday, the 13th at the Cheney Fairgrounds. Admission and parking to the fair is free.
