WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office says a woman who's accused of dragging a deputy during a traffic stop has been arrested.

At around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, 45-year-old Melissa Heinzman was taken into custody at a home in south Wichita. Heinzman allegedly sped off during a traffic stop last month, dragging a sheriff's deputy and eventually running over her foot.

Heinzman will be booked for Aggravated Battery of a Law Enforcement Officer and possibly other charges.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff says the deputy is scheduled for surgery with an expected recovery time of around 12 weeks.
