STRONG CITY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 22-year-old man from Wichita was killed and another was critically hurt in a head-on crash early Saturday morning.

The accident happened at around 3:15 a.m. on Highway 50 near Strong City in Chase County. Sheriff Richard Dorneker told KVOE that an eastbound vehicle driven by Nathan Long, of Elmdale, veered into oncoming traffic and hit a westbound car driven by Austin Rhoads.

Rhoads, of Wichita, died at the scene. Long was flown to a Topeka hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

An online obituary for Rhoads says visitation is Wednesday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. He will be laid to rest Friday morning at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Cottonwood Falls.

A GoFundMe has been established to help Rhoads' family with funeral expenses.
