Boater who disappeared at Marion Reservoir found dead

Authorities have found the body of a 46-year-old man who disappeared while boating on Marion Reservoir over the weekend. 

The Marion County Sheriff's Office says Steven Meyer was found dead at around 9:15 a.m. Monday. An autopsy is pending. 

Meyer, of Eudora, was reported missing at around 1:20 a.m. Sunday. His boat was later found floating against trees along the north side of the reservoir near Nighthawk Road.

Authorities in Marion County are searching for a missing 46-year-old Eudora man who was boating and disappeared early Sunday morning.

The incident was reported at around 1:20 a.m. at Marion Reservoir. Just after 3 a.m. crews recovered the unoccupied boat floating against trees along the north side of the reservoir near Nighthawk Road.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, boats from the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, and a Kansas Highway Patrol aircraft were assisting in the search.

The boater's name is being withheld.
