Teddy Allen dismissed from WSU basketball teamPosted: Updated:
Teddy Allen has been dismissed from the Wichita State basketball team, days after his arrest.
In a statement released this morning, Wichita State Athletic Director Darron Boatright said, "Coach Marshall and I met over the weekend to discuss the situation and the time that Teddy has spent within our program. We came to the decision jointly and agreed that this is best for the program."
Coach Gregg Marshall added, “I’m both disappointed and sad, and I’m regretful that I wasn’t able to help Teddy more. I wish Teddy nothing but the best in his future.”
Allen, a transfer from West Virginia, was arrested last week on domestic violence and theft charges. A woman, who identified herself as Allen's former girlfriend, said Allen battered her and damaged her phone.
She later released the following statement:
“The events that occurred early Thursday morning were a miscommunication. Alcohol was involved and we both made a series of poor decisions that led to even bigger poor decisions. I am not injured, battered, nor was I harmed. This is an unfortunate situation. I have no further comment on what I will do moving forward.”
Allen is scheduled to be arraigned in municipal court in July.
