WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Severe storms that moved across south-central Kansas early Saturday morning knocked out power to thousands.

The storms knocked over trees and power poles across the area.

Westar Energy reported more than 8,000 customers lost power, mostly in northern Sedgwick County.

In Valley Center, firefighters reported power poles falling down on railroad tracks near 5th and Interurban. The winds caused damage to the Kansas International Dragway.
