Firefighter injured in house fire near downtown Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A firefighter was hospitalized following a house fire near downtown Wichita on Wednesday. 

Firefighters were called just after 10:30 a.m. to a fire at a two-story home near the intersection of Central and Hydraulic. They arrived to find heavy smoke emanating from the house and found fire in a front bedroom.

The flames were quickly brought under control. 

Capt. Christopher Lane with the Wichita Fire Department said one firefighter suffered a burn and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

No one was in the home at the time of the fire. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and a damage estimate has yet to be determined.
