WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Textron Aviation has more than 500 open positions in Wichita.

"The great thing about Textron Aviation is definitely the breadth of jobs that we have here, all the way from accountants to welders to CNC machinists, to sheet metal, so we have the whole gamut that sits right here in Wichita, said Maggie Topping, senior vice president of human resources.

Topping said the company hired 1,000 employees last year and expect the same this year.

"Textron Aviation is definitely filling the upwards thrust of consumer confidence and the overall economy. So, we're in a great place. And, being in a position to hire, where we haven't being doing that in the last decade, is definitely a great place to be," she said.

The open positions in Wichita include engineering, business operations, manufacturing, and maintenance.

"Those job opportunities are awesome, at an awesome company. They continue to do great work and expand into different areas. This is just another one of those good news stories that we should share," said Wichita Council Member Brandon Johnson.
