Arkansas City police arrest 3 on drug, child endangerment charges

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say they've arrested three people on suspicion of drug and child endangerment charges after executing a search warrant at a home in Arkansas City. 

Department spokesperson Andrew Lawson said that for a past couple of months, the Cowley County Drug Task Force has been investigating possible meth dealers at a home in the 400 block of South 6th Street. Officers executed the search warrant just after noon on Wednesday. 

Officers found more than 20 grams of suspected meth, an undisclosed quantity of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia for use and sales. An 11-year-old girl was also taken into protective custody. 

Police arrested 38-year-old Branden Diane Eagan, 43-year-old Claudia Jean Hutton and 46-year-old Timothy Scott Massey. They could face the following charges:

  • Eagan: 5 felony counts of aggravated endangering a child by exposure to the distributing of methamphetamine, 3 felony counts of possession of opiates, 2 misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, 1 misdemeanor count of aiding and abetting a felony drug crime.
  • Hutton: 2 felony counts of aggravated endangering a child by exposure to the distributing of methamphetamine; 1 felony count each of no drug tax stamp, possession of opiates and use of a communication facility to commit a felony drug violation; 2 misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, 1 misdemeanor count of aiding and abetting a felony drug crime, 1 misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
  • Massey: 4 felony counts each of no drug tax stamp and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, 2 felony counts of aggravated endangering a child by exposure to the distributing of methamphetamine, 1 felony count of use of a communication facility to commit a felony drug violation, 4 misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, 1 misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.

Police did not give details on the relationship between the suspects and the child.
