Arrest made in weekend shooting death

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A 34-year-old man is under arrest in connection with a deadly weekend shooting.  Isaac Phillips was arrested on a charge of first degree murder.

Officers responded to a scene in the 400 block of north New York Court at 12:00 a.m. Sunday.  They found Ivell Ray in the street with multiple gunshot wounds.  Ray, 28, died at the scene.

An investigation revealed Phillips and Ray had a disturbance in the street and Phillips fired several shots from a handgun.

Police are searching for a suspect after one man is shot and killed in central Wichita late Saturday night.

Investigators responded to the shooting before midnight in the 400 block of North New York -- west of Central and I-135.

When officers arrived, they found a man dead, in the middle of the street. The victim, believed to be in his late 20's, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, said Wichita Police Sgt. Dan Harty. Officers took several in for interviews about what happened, but they can use the public's help.

"Obviously, we don't have enough information to know what has exactly taken place or why," Harty said. "Just we encourage anyone, if they see anything suspicious, to reach out and let us know. We're always happy to respond and come check things out."
