Missing 72-year-old Kansas man found safe; Silver Alert canceled

The man who was the subject of a statewide Silver Alert has been found safe.

WaKeeney police say 72-year-old was located early Friday in Trego County. No other immediate information was released.

Hearting was last seen Wednesday evening several miles northwest of Wakeeney.

Authorities in western Kansas are asking for the public's help in locating a missing man possibly suffering from dementia. 

The WaKeeney Police Department says a Silver Alert has been issued for 72-year-old Russell Adair Hearting. Police say he stands 5-foot-10, weighs 160 pounds and was wearing a red long-sleeve shirt, high top tennis shoes and blue jeans. 

The department said on Facebook that Hearting was last seen at around 10 p.m. Wednesday near 190th and C Road, which is several miles northwest of WaKeeney.  

"An individual stopped to speak with Hearting and offered to give him a ride and Hearting refused," the post says. "Hearting is believed to be on foot and possible suffering from dementia."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Trego County Law Enforcement Center at 785-743-5711.
