WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

This month is the second wettest May for Wichita and the fifth wettest of any month since records began in 1888.

The National Weather Service in Wichita says the rainfall at Wichita Eisenhower National Airport was at 12.59 inches as of Tuesday morning. And more rain is expected before month's end.

The wettest May on record was in 2008 with 13.14 inches. The wettest month was June of 1923 with 14.43 inches of rainfall.

While more rain is expected with Tuesday's thunderstorms, widespread flooding is not expected at this time. It appears that just about everyone will come in under 1 inch of total rainfall with many spots picking up slim to none through Wednesday morning.
