Evacuations due to flood concern in Greenwood County

Posted: Updated:
GREENWOOD COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Residents in southeast Greenwood County are being encouraged to evacuated due to flooding concerns early Saturday morning.

Greenwood County Emergency Management said it’s requesting all residents below Fall River dam to go to safety. Record levels of water will be released from the Fall River Reservoir – east of KS-99 and north of US-400 – that will cause wide-spread flooding.

Officials tell KAKE News that residents along Fall River and the City of Fall River are being urged to leave. We’re told some home are covered by rising waters.

An American Red Cross shelter has been set up at Jefferson Street Baptist Church, 300 S. Jefferson in Eureka, Kan.
