Flooding forces Kansas post office to evacuate

Officials say a small eastern Kansas town's post office has been evacuated due to rising flood waters.

The U.S. Postal Service said Friday that all retail and delivery operations at the Neosho Falls Post Office will be moved to the Yates Center Post Office. 

USPS reminds customers to bring photo identification when picking up their mail. Letter carries will continue to deliver to homes and businesses wherever possible. 

The Yates Center Post Office is located at located at 200 North Main Street. It's hours are are weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.

Neosho Falls had a population of 135 in 2017, according to census data.
