Cowley County flooding puts county fair in jeopardy

COWLEY COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

So far this week, Cowley County has received more than 7 inches of rain.

"I've never seen Winfield this bad in my life," says Christian Evans.

Brendon Evans agrees.

"Timber Creek, it's way above the rocks now. I've never seen it that bad. I've never even seen this place flood before. I could only imagine how the dam is on the other side of town," he says.

Heavy rain flooded Island Park, and the fair grounds.

"I honestly don't think they're going to have the fair this year to be honest," says Christian Evans. They're gonna have to redo the bathrooms, a lot of cleaning up down there."

Cowley County emergency management is keeping an updated list of road closings on its website.
