WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police say one person is hurt in a shooting in downtown Wichita.

Crews rushed to the scene in the 900 block of North Market around 8:30 on Sunday night.  When they got there, officers say they found a man with injuries to the face a block or so away.  Medics rushed the victim to the hospital.

Witnesses tell KAKE News the shooting happened by a telephone poll behind the apartment building there.

Others say there were several people fighting in the same area earlier in the night, a fight that got physical with one person knocking another to the ground.  Police say they don't know yet if that fight is related to the shooting, but the victim's family thinks it is, though they tell KAKE News they don't know what the fight was about.

Residents in the apartment say they didn't realize how serious this was until they heard three gunshots going off.

Police say they have no suspects at this time and are still looking for evidence in this case.  KAKE News expects to learn more about this case Monday morning at Wichita Police's daily briefing.
