WPS advice ahead of attending graduation ceremonies

District leaders remind people to take extra time and precaution during graduation season when attending ceremonies. 

This week, thousands of people are making their way through Charles Koch Arena as Wichita Public Schools is hosting several graduation ceremonies.

If you plan to attend a graduation ceremony, leaders with WPS suggests you:

  • Arrive early
  • Be prepared for heavy traffic on surrounding streets and in parking lots
  • Expect extra security in parking lots and at doors
  • Be ready to stand in line as you will be expected to pass through security, scanners
  • Do not bring items that may be distracting (noise makers, balloons, posters, etc)

All guidelines are in place to ensure each student is celebrated and has an equal experience.
