New Riverfest Parade route turns at EnglishPosted: Updated:
The Wichita Riverfest Sundown Parade will be held on Friday, May 31, at 6:30 p.m.
This year, there is a new route that does not turn at Douglas.
"There's some benefits to the downtown area. Should be better for the traffic flow, also easier for people to get in and out of the area. And with some of the buildings, it will provide shade," said Sgt. Kelly O'Brien, Wichita Police.
The new parade route starts at Second and Main Street. It will will continue south on Main Street, before turning east at English. It will then go north on Market and end at Second.
The new route will allow some residents of The Lux Apartments, at First and Market, to view the parade from the comfort of their home.
"I think it's going to be probably pretty loud for a few hours and then it'll die down. But, otherwise, it'll just be a fun thing. That's kind of why I moved downtown," said Craig Compton, who lives at The Lux.
