WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A man has pleaded guilty in the death of a Wichita child.   Lucas Diel pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the death of Tony Bunn.

The 2-year-old boy died in May, 2018.  He was found in a Riverside home.  Police said he suffered severe trauma to his head and face.  An affidavit revealed Bunn's mother, Elizabeth Woolheater, told police she hit the boy when he wouldn't eat the hot dogs she made him for breakfast.   Woolheater also told investigators she heard what sounded two or three more hits when Diel was alone in a room with the boy.  She then found the boy with his eyes swollen shut and bleeding from the face.  Woolheater is charged with first degree murder.

Diel will be sentenced June 25th.  Under the plea agreement he will face more than 48 years in prison.
