WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Local musician, Jenny Wood, remains hospitalized after a crash that killed her niece and mother on Sunday.

"She's just an amazing woman. Really a local love and light for everyone. We've had so much outpouring of everyone, all their support, which is great ," said Michael Peltzer, friend and bandmate of Jenny Wood and The Watchers

Peltzer said Wood remains in critical condition at the ICU of Via Christi.

He added, "We do ask that people don't call the hospital."

Wood was in the car with her niece and mother when a stolen vehicle crashed into them at Broadway and Douglas.

Her niece, 12-year-old Rosemary (Rosie) McElroy, and mother 70-year-old Maria Wood, died in the crash.

McElroy was a seventh-grade-student at Robinson Middle School and participated in the school's choir.

"She is just such a bright light and she was always so optimistic. That child did not have a mean bone in her body. She loved everyone and was so kind to everybody. She had a beautiful voice and she loved to sing," said McElroy's teacher, Brooke Adams.

Additional counselors were present at the middle school today.

Three fundraisers have been set up by friends of the family to help with medical costs and funeral expenses.
