Wins for Kansas: Kansas Singletrack Society

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

If you've spent time exploring outdoor hot spots in Kansas, chances are you've run into one of the trails the Kansas Singletrack Society helps to maintain.

"We build and maintain four different singletrack trails around south central Kansas,” said group president, John Rankin.

Used by hikers, runners, and especially mountain bikers, these trails are just wide enough for one person to pass through and can have different obstacles for added difficulty. That's just one of the things members of the society work on to keep the trails in good condition.

"It involves a lot of mowing, weed eating, and repairing erosion,” said Rankin.

Around for almost twenty years, the group remains dedicated to their work when they see others sharing in the joy of the great outdoors.

"All of us have a passion for mountain biking and a passion for getting outdoors, and it's great to be able to provide that type of facility so that all kinds of people can get out and just enjoy the outdoors.”

To help with their mission, KAKE-TV and our partners DeVaughn James injury lawyers are honored to have them as this week's “Wins for Kansas.”
