Wichita, Kan. (Wichita Business Journal/ KAKE) -

The Wichita Business Journal reports that Textron Aviation in Wichita is expected to hire 1,000 more employees in 2019.

The announcement was made by CEO Ron Draper at the company's annual customer conference in Wichita. Draper said the additional jobs would match growth from 2018.

“We hired 1,000 people last year and we’re probably going to have to hire another 1,000 this year, and that’s great,” Draper said.

A report from Aviation International News said:

“Some of that is replacing retirements, but most of that is growth. It makes our employees feel like we’re winning again after a number of difficult years.”

The aircraft maker currently employs about 9,200 people in Wichita
