High winds cause train to derail in Chase CountyPosted: Updated:
Authorities say it could be early Tuesday morning before tracks are reopened in Chase County after straight line winds cause a train derailment.
The derailment happened at around 3:40 a.m. Monday southwest of Matfield Green and was approaching the Kansas Highway 177 overpass above the highway. Crews were on scene moving the cars.
The train was heading to Texas from Kansas City.
Authorities said 21 of the 107 cars were involved and no hazardous material was inside the the cars.
No injuries were reported.
