A 6-year-old Longton boy has died while his brother remains in the hospital following a crash in Elk County last Thursday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says 9-year-old Elliott Cannon was driving a Gator westbound on Harvest Road with his 6-year-old brother, Owen Cannon riding with him.

36-year-old Tyler Claibourn was driving his truck eastbound when both vehicles crested the top of a hill at the same time. Claibourn tried to avoid a collision but the passenger side of both vehicles struck each other.

The Cannon's vehicle spun around and came to a rest on the South part of the road while Claibourn's vehicle stopped on the North side of the road.

Both Elliott and his brother, Owen were transported to a hospital in critical condition. Claibourn did not have any reported injuries.

A GoFundMe page that was set up by the Longton Christian Community Church to help support the Cannon family released a statement saying:

We are saddened by the news that sweet Owen has passed. Please continue to pray for strength and healing for Randy, Jamie, and Elliott. Donations are still being accepted for the funeral/medical expenses that have occurred due to this horrible accident. Donations are still being accepted at Kirks Mini Mart and the Longton Grocery Store as well.

The page also says that Elliott Cannon continues to recover and has even "been up and walking some."
