WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita Police arrest a man in connection to a burglary call this morning.

An alarm was set off when someone broke into Barney's Deep Discount store, at Central and Zoo, around 6 a.m.

The burglar tried to take a 24-pack of beer, cartons of cigarettes, and Zinger snacks.

"They found forced entry into a metal door of the business and observed property from the business stacked by the door. While they were on scene, Shepherd exited the business and was taken into custody without incident," said Officer Charley Davidson, Wichita Police.

Police arrested 41-year-old Mark Shepherd and booked him on charges of burglary, theft, criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The business was closed during the incident and no one was injured.
