Wichita man sentenced to prison for abusing 2-month-old son

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A Wichita man has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for abusing his 2-month-old son. 

Judge Christopher Magana sentenced Thomas Harper on Friday to 77 months. The Sedgwick County DA's office said he had entered a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and child abuse. 

Harper was originally arrested in October of 2018 for attempted first-degree murder, child abuse and multiple counts of aggravated battery. He 

Police have said that officers responded the afternoon of October 2 to a report of possible child abuse at Wesley Medical Center. The boy had serious injuries to his face and leg.

The child's 20-year-old mother told police the boy was asleep when she left him in Harper's care and when she returned, the child has sustained multiple injuries.
