Police: Garden City teen made threat to get out of school

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KAKE) -

A Garden City teen has been arrested after police said she made a school threat in an effort to get out of classes.  Police arrested the 15-year-old today.

Police had extra officers on hand at Horace Good Middle School today after a threat was discovered on a social media site.  Investigators said the teen created the threat and then posted as if it was sent to her by an anonymous source.

The teen was booked on a charge of aggravated criminal threat.  Police estimate they worked approximately 160 hours investigating and responding to the incident.

Garden City police are investigating a possible threat against Horace Good Middle School. The threat was made anonymously on a social media site and was supposed to happen April 23.

Extra police will be at the school as authorities investigate. People are asked to report any suspicious or threatening messages found on social media to police.
