HOISINGTON, Kan. (KAKE) -

A Kansas man has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter last year.

According to a news release from Kansas' Attorney General, Chaz Stephens on Thursday entered the plea on a charge of second-degree intentional murder in the March 2018 death of 2-year-old Iviona Lewis

A caller reported on March 20 that Iviona was last seen two days prior at her home in the 400 block of Elm. Hoisington Police Chief Kenton Doze said the girl's mother had been visiting her brother in Great Bend, and the delay in reporting Iviona's disappearance stemmed from confusion over who was supposed to be caring for her.

Iviona's body was found in a black trash bag northwest of Hoisington on the morning of March 21. Stephens, the boyfriend of Iviona's mother at the time, was later arrested.
