Semi driver dies in southwest Kansas crash

KISMET, Kan. (KAKE) -

A 69-year-old semi driver has died after losing control of his rig and crashing in southwest Kansas. 

The accident happened at around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday on Route 83 in Seward County. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the tractor-trailer was heading north near Road 17 when its driver lost control. The semi hit a sign and rolled onto its right side. 

The man driving, Damon Brown of Plains, was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol's online crash log states he was not wearing a seat belt.
