A fifth-grade girl from South Carolina had died two days after she suffered injuries in a fight at school, authorities say.

The Colleton County Sheriff office confirmed the child’s death but did not provide any details as to the cause citing the ongoing investigation. WCIV reports family identified the girl as 10-year-old RaNiya Wright.

The school district says the fight started in a  classroom and school administrators stepped in to secure the scene and request emergency medical services.

“District and school staff have visited with the family,” the district reported in a Facebook update. “We ask the community to continue to keep the student and their family your thoughts and prayers.”

Another child involved in the fight was suspended from school indefinitely.

The fight remains under investigation, and details of the girl's injuries were not released.

GoFundMe account has been set up to help Wright's mother.
