The father of a Kansas State University student who was found after going missing for days says his son was "outrageously lucky."

Garrett Kipp was reported missing on March 14th. His truck was found abandoned near Natoma, Kansas and his cellphone was found a quarter of a mile from his truck.

In a Facebook post, Kipp's father, Charles, said his son walked 28 miles from where his truck broke down to Russell, Kansas. The temperature never reached 30 degrees. His father said Garrett made his way to I-70, hoping to catch a ride to Manhattan or Salina. Charles said his son fell asleep in a car that gave him a ride and ended up near St. Louis, Missouri.

Charles Kipp said his son walked the highways in Missouri for a couple of days. He collapsed on an embankment and was found by Missouri highway workers.

Charles Kipp said his son has sore feet and legs and is recovering at home. The Kipp family thanks everyone for sharing Garrett's photo and bringing him home.
